General Ledger Consolidation Systems

Essbase can be used very effectively to combine disparate general ledger systems or to combine more than one instance of the same general ledger. For example, your company many have four divisions, two of which use Oracle Financials, one uses JD Edwards and the fourth uses Great Plains. Essbase can be used to deliver a single consolidated view and allow users to drill-down into each division’s data.

Because Essbase is extremely rich in features there are many design options and you can produce consolidation systems that meet a wide variety of specific needs. For example:

  • Architectural features such as partitioning enable federated designs where the individual divisions have their own Essbase instances that are automatically combined into the consolidated view./
  • SQL Drill Thru and XOLAP enable users to drill-thru to the underlying general ledger or data warehouse source data.
  • Financial modeling features such as Time Balance, Expense Reporting and Dynamic Time Series make it possible to model balance sheets, variance analysis and period-to-date features with no code
  • Sophisticated calculation features make it possible to implement powerful allocations and forecasting logic
